House plants can make you healthier!
Posted by under For Buyers, For Sellers
House plants can rid the house of toxins in the air and are a proven stress reducer that improves your mental well-bing.! That’s according to Women’s Day (Sept. 12, ‘07). The article cites a book: How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 Houseplants that Purify your Home or Office.
Here’s an example of a couple of plants that are “harder” to kill and can ehance your home without a lot of effort!
Rubber Plant: My mom had one of these when I was growing up and it was relatively easy for her to nurture! They adapt to low-light situations. Water it, let the soil dry, water… so on. They are good for removing indoor chemicals. They’re also great for pumping moisture back into the air.
Snake Plant: These are best for areas where there is almost no sunlight. They are practically indestructible. And they also remove toxins. I’m not being funny, but it’s good for bathrooms, too. Almost the biggest problems you have have with this one is over watering… it’ also called “mother-in-law’s tongue.” Check out the photo at the beginning of the entry and see if you can see why!
Christmas Cactus: This plant gives off oxygen at night… so it’s great for bedrooms. Strange thing about this plant is that it needs about 12-hours of darkness to promote blooming? I did a little research online and also found that these plants should also be kept out of direct sunlight.
